A small-town church with a big-hearted welcome.
Peoples Church of Batavia was founded for one purpose: to glorify God by furthering the Gospel and discipling believers in their walk with Christ. We are an independent Baptist church, which means we answer to no denomination or convention, only to the Word of God and the Lord it reveals.
We are a congregation of farm families, retirees, young parents and kids from Batavia, Fairfield, Ottumwa, Libertyville and the countryside in between. Whatever brought you to this page, you would be welcome on Sunday, and we would be glad to meet you.

From Pastor Jack
Thank you for taking a moment to learn about Peoples Church. For more than twenty-five years it has been my privilege to open the Bible with this congregation week after week, and I can tell you that the people here are exactly what the name says: ordinary people who love the Lord and love one another.
If you are looking for a church home, or simply have questions about what the Bible says, I would count it an honor to talk with you. Come as you are. You will find a warm handshake, plain preaching from the Scriptures, and a seat waiting for you.
A place for every age, every week.

Small church. Long reach.
The Gospel that is preached in Batavia does not stay in Batavia. Through the faithful giving of our members, Peoples Church helps support missionaries on foreign fields and ministries much closer to home.
Every fall the church family fills shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, and throughout the year we stand with local and national pregnancy support services that care for mothers and their babies.

If you were to die today, do you know for sure that you would go to Heaven?
It is the most important question you will ever ask yourself, and the Bible gives a clear answer. Eternal life is a gift, paid for by Jesus Christ, received by believing on Him alone.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23
